[link][link]I got really super cold feet right before the event... I didn't want to stay alone on Friday, but I had nobody to go with me. But I left anyway... decided to take an excursion to the Railway Museum before I settled in and get registered.
I seriously didn't think they'd let me in without a unit... but they did! Not only that, but they put me in with the 9th SS division reenactors, with some of whom I was very good friends... and the rest I made very good friends with! They let me camp out with them on Friday night (better than spending it alone in a house half hour up the road, covered in 20 years of dust!) We had a fire going, and had lots of fun telling stories and eating "authentic" canned rations (Dinty Moore and Chef Boyardee, but with the labels ripped off XD ) The museum provided us with free hot lunches with chips, drink, and ice cream for free on both days of the event, and full access to all the "employee" areas. (since we were technically staff that weekend)
didn't even sleep. We went straight to dousing the fire, packing up the farb, and loading our guns. It was hot outside, and I mean HOT. I'd say the high amounts of wind would make that more bearable, but windburn really sucks x_x Other than the intense weather, it was a really amazing experience. THe Anzio Express was super fun as well, my first event and I got into no less than two or three physical altercations with the POWs the Germans picked up. The American tried taking my pistol twice, but I was too quick for him, so he nabbed a rifle off one of the other guys and tried using it on me... which was an epic fail as it became a tool of submission on my end. after wrestling it out of his hands two other guys came over and beat him up XD The second time, one of the Italian partisans tried to escape right before the train started moving... I saw one of the guys trying to grab him and failing, and ran across to the other vestibule and threw his ass back in the seat. I ran into him during lunch later and he told me he was actually SUPPOSED to escape.

In between, we entertained families and answered questions about various things, and sat around and made our own fun.
By around 3 PM on sunday, clouds started rolling in, and we moved all of the encampment into a roofed area due to the threat of rainstorm, but by the time the rain came.... the event was wrapped up nicely and everyone was getting ready to leave.
Well, now, it's time to start on some sewing. TTYL!
